One of Nigeria’s popular and award-winning Disc Jockeys, DJ Spinall has reacted to the protest of Nigerians against police brutality.
The ace DJ who signed a record deal with Atlantic Records UK, blasted a set of activists for their cowardice which can be measured with that of legendary singer, 2Baba Idibia who disappointed Nigerians by canceling a nationwide protest back in 2017. The DJ took to Twitter to call out the #ENDSARS online activists, who according to him are not serious about the campaign against police brutality.
Angered DJ Spinall slammed the #ENDSARS online activists over a planned rally/protest against police brutality in Lagos which they failed to show up for. According to him, only 19 people showed up when there were actually 20,000 people who retweeted and supported the idea of going on a rally and protesting against police brutality in Nigeria.
It can be recalled that in 2017, 2Face Idibia had planned an anti-government protest which was scheduled to hold in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria but ended up canceling it. He said in a short video he posted on his Instagram page that his reason for canceling the protest was due to ‘security challenges’. He went further to apologize to Nigerians but a lot of people saw it as cowardice on his part and mocked him for it.
But DJ Spinall on his own part showed bravery by showing up for the planned protest against police brutality in Lagos. Unfortunately, Nigerians disappointed him by not showing up. Maybe their reason for not showing up was also due to fear of insecurity, who knows.
