Super Eagles beats South Africa 2-1, qualifies for AFCON semi-finals

William Troost-Ekong’s late winner sent Nigeria through to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday after a tense 2-1 victory over South Africa in Cairo.

Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the first half before Bongani Zungu levelled on 70 minutes with a looping header, awarded after a VAR review, but Troost-Ekong struck a minute from time at a corner to set up a last-four meeting with Algeria or Ivory Coast.
